Stem Cell:
Stem Cell therapy is a type of regenerative medicine that introduces stem cells to help repair or replace tissue that has been damaged or lost due to injury, disease, or aging. A stem cell is a "mother" cell that can be used to develop other, specific cell types within the body - for example, bone, cartilage, tendon, and muscle. In stem cell therapy, local stems cells are injected into injured ligaments or tendons and arthritic joints to promote healing. Although research on stem cell therapy is in its infancy, there is promising evidence that this therapy may support bone growth in fractures and to treat bone disease.
A-Cell
A-cell is a synthetic treatment that function in the same way as stem cell therapy. Unlike stem cell therapy where the horse’s own cells need to be harvested, A-Cell does not require the collection of tissue and growth of cells yet provides a tissue regeneration similar to that witnessed in stem cell therapy. It is an expedient and effective treatment for suspensory ligament and tendon injuries in sport horses.
