Digital Radiography:
Digital radiography is a new development in equine veterinary practice. Digital radiographs, or digital X-rays, capture images digitally on a special plate using a regular X-ray machine. The plates save the images and transfer them to a computer where they are stored and can be viewed immediately. Digital radiographs offer many advantages over conventional X-rays: resolution of image is superior; radiographs can be enlarged to reveal problems that might not be seen using traditional X-ray technology; they reduce exam time as each image is captured, verified, and clinically reviewed in seconds; and owners or buyers receive on-site diagnosis.
